Coverage of Design by Fire 2008

The Design By Fire conference was held on Tuesday 21 October in the stylish Media Plaza, Utrecht. 185 Interaction designers, information architects, user experience evangelists and design managers participated.

In the evaluation survey 90% of the participants said to be satisfied or very satisfied with the conference. This is what our report card show: Presentations: 7.4 / 10, Venue: 8.4 / 10, Catering: 8.3 / 10, Information: 7.7 / 10

Workshop & Master class on prototyping

Jonathan Arnowitz & Dirk Jan HoetsOn Wednesday 22 October – the day after the conference – Jonathan Arnowitz of Google and Dirk Jan Hoets of Flipside will team up to give two prototyping seminars. Leverage the experience of two leading user experience designers as they share with you the prototyping secrets that have made Google, SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle and many other companies a great success. The day is broken into two stand alone sessions: a workshop covering the essentials of effective prototyping and a Prototyping Master class. Both sessions will be partly in English and partly in Dutch.

Preparations for the second Design by Fire conference have started! The date is set on 21 October 2008, that's exact five months from now. The list of confirmed speakers makes that we can hardly wait. Read on.

Brendan Dawes (author of the inspiring book ‘Analog in, Digital Out’) accepted the invitation to take care of the keynote presentation.

August de los Reyes, as Experience Architect involved in the Microsoft Surface project, will share his expertise in designing for natural user interfaces.

Christian Behrens is a new media designer based in Berlin. He recently finished his M.A. thesis on information design principles.
